Who is Rachel Huber?
… In short. An adventurer. I have lived on boats in the Caribbean and called more places ‘home’ across North America than I can count. I’ve solo backpacked from Ecuador to Patagonia stopping over in Galapagos, free dived alongside dolphin pods in the Bahamas, and hiked the Annapurna in Nepal. I’m always seeking the next adventure for my restless roaming spirit.
Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers, the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters, and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.

… The longer version. My actual home is Sooke, Canada, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia. I moved here 2 years ago to next to my two favorite things – sea and summits. I also landed here as it’s only 1.5 hours away from an International Airport as I take multiple exciting trips a year. When I’m at home you can find me competitively sailing, snowboarding, mountain biking, kayaking, and camping… Really any outdoor adventure I can get out on! I have also converted a Mercedes Sprinter van into a mobile home and often live the #Vanlife. When not on the road, or in the mountains, you can find me underwater.
As a PADI scuba instructor, certified in 2007, I spent many years working abroad and have dived in many locations around the world – From the bottom of the globe in Ushuaia (Patagonia), to Komodo, Indonesia, Grand Cayman, Vancouver Island, Galapagos, and more. Today, I have 2000+ dives (mostly on liveaboards) and an extensive list of qualifications.
Over the years, I have had many titles; scuba instructor, writer, manager, marketing specialist, creative director, business developer, blogger, sailor, backpacker, and more. But above all, I’m an entrepreneur. I thank my Opa for this inherited quality – Read our family’s journey to success here.
For me, a happy life means embracing an unorthodox existence, living true to myself. Typically this means an ‘outside the box’ lifestyle with deep-set motivation to inspire others to find their own courage to do the same. Put eloquently by writer Satsuki Shibuya – By doing what you love, you inspire and awaken the hearts of others.
